Remember the moment you met your first love? The heart flutter, the fire in the belly, and addiction so swift, it’s disarming. I fell head over heels for this squid ink dark creation. It’s like a waiter approaching with a platter of kalamata olives and charcuterie held high. Sit with it… swirl, sniff, repeat. The aromas come in waves. It’s one hell of a thrilling ride. There’s rooibos tea, graphite so fleeting you question whether it was there at all, and a touch of tobacco add to the savoury explosion. Then there’s the palate. Hello puttanesca (all the good things in life rolled into one). Sugo, anchovies, more olives, a midweight tannin profile and abrupt finish that adds to the seduction. It’s plump, moreish and quite unforgettable. A deep and meaningful in a glass. Hold on tight, this one’s a keeper. - Katie Spain
